How can we build a house in 3 days?

Day One: The primary objective of this day is to get the concrete slab/floor poured and begin framing the walls. Groups are fed a hot breakfast at camp and should be at the worksite by 8:00 a.m. Lunch will be delivered to the site between 11 and 12pm. There will also be plenty of water and snacks to last through the work day. Crews should arrive back at camp between 4:00 and 6:00 where there will be plenty of delicious hot food ready and waiting. Bathing before eating is optional, but suggested on behalf of you fellow camper. Perhaps a dip in the pool is a good compromise

Day Two: Today usually starts with Advil or Tylenol. At the work site the team may possibly need to finish framing and erect the walls. Next, while some of the crew is building the roof, the rest will begin “wrapping” the house in preparation for stucco. A small team will also need to install the doors and windows. Once complete, in an ideal scenario, the crew will come back together, mix and apply the first coat of stucco, and finish out the work day. After dinner, you can relax by hanging at the camp fire, pool or playing games inside the dining hall.

Day Three: You’re almost there. It’s a good idea to do most of your packing before heading to breakfast. Today will be about the finishing touches. Most importantly the crew will need to apply the second coat of stucco. Once that is done and the house is finished, we recommend that you clean up the site of all garbage, tools and unused materials (especially nails). We urge groups to gather with the family inside their new home for a closing prayer and key presentation. This is the preferred time to take group photos and present any donations to the family. After the presentation your group will head back to camp for a quick lunch, pack the rest of your belongings, take an optional shower or swim and proceed home.
